The Philippine Academy of Physicians in School Health, Inc. or PAPSHI was founded in 1998 under the auspices of the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians, Inc. (PAFP). Dr. Luz P. Revita, then the chair of the subcommittee on School-based Programs of PAFP, was the interim chair and later elected as the first national president.
The first annual convention was held in May 2000 in Quezon City during which the first national board was elected by an assembly of ninety-seven physicians representing 12 regions. During the first year, 2000-2001, the PAPSHI board concentrated on the expansion of its membership and the development of training modules on the competencies identified.
